Late away game in Bristol, what can possibly go wrong?

Marlborough Vs Robinsons B Marlborough win 5-1
Feeling confident after some good wins following the mid season break Marlborough travelled to Bristol to face Robinsons B who lay several places below the visitors. Marlborough knew that nothing short of a convincing win would do in their attempt to make ground on the teams vying for promotion.
The game started with Marlborough thoroughly dominant in all areas of the pitch and soon Robinsons found themselves pinned back and unable to move the ball through Marlborough without resorting to hopeful crash balls. Marlborough pressed their opponents even further and soon had several opportunities to score which they were not able to take either from excellent last ditch tackles or by slight indecision.
Robinsons had their first true chance of the game in the form of a short corner and they scored from the resulting play after the initial shot. Alarm bells rang form Marlborough who found themselves trailing despite having had the best of the play. Parity was soon restored however when debutant Ed Watson crossed the ball inside the ‘D’ and after a lucky deflection from a Robinsons defender the ball founds its way past the goalkeeper. With half time approaching Marlborough took the lead following a short corner strike from Anil Sud. Perhaps the more important event before half time was striker Matt Way being struck on knee which forced him off for the remainder of the game. Let us hope for a swift return to action.
Finely poised at 2-1 Marlborough started the second half with a lot of energy and purpose creating chance after chance to keep the Robinsons defence and goalkeeper busy. The next 15 minutes saw the game swing completely in Marlborough’s favour with 3 reverse stick strikes! Jon Duffy was the first to get in on the act to fire home from close range following another Marlborough attack. Hamish Fyfe then added Marlborough’s fourth after a neat turn followed by a low strike and Sud then picked up his second after clever play from Fyfe which allowed time and space for the finish.
Robinsons fought on well throughout and there was no lack of effort or commitment as they finished the game strongly, creating some chances but unable to trouble the scorers further. The game ended 5-1, another boost to Marlborough’s growing confidence.
The Marlborough News Online Man of the Match was Hamish Fyfe for his goal, assist and all round attacking threat.
