Despite Marnane's Heroics!

With Marlborough having a good first half of the season, it was important for them to start the second half well to keep up the pace with the leaders, but as it turned out, Bath Buccs were the better side and took all three points. Both teams started aggressively, with the young Buccs team looking to break quickly at every opportunity. Marlborough created a few chances and had the ball in the net, but it was ruled out for 'apparently hitting the back of Will Hughes's stick'. This set back started Marlborough's decline in the game, as bad discipline led to a yellow card and following that, Buccs scored the opener. The scoreline stayed 1-0 going into half time. Marlborough knew they had to up their game, but this never happened, Buccs, were first to the ball and winning 50/50 tackles, however, Marlborough did make the scores level when Rich Holman fired the ball home from a short corner. You would have thought this would kick start Marlborough, but it only spurred on Buccs, who scored a break away goal to make it 2-1, Marlborough's discipline didn't improve either with another yellow card and to rub salt into the wounds, Buccs added a third to seal a well deserved victory. It all sounds a bit dull and crap... but Marlborough did create chances and in parts of the game, were dominating, but were second best over all. A lot to work on at training, but not all is lost!! Onward and upwards. Marlborough News Online Man of the Match was Brian Marnane, for a string of fine saves.
