Match report by Freddie Hazlitt
Marlborough turned up to play Bridgend hoping to put right a draw against them from earlier in the season.
The game started frantically with both teams looking for the advantage before Bridgend capitalised on a defensive lapse for a scrappy goal. Marlborough fought back, with Mark Ramage getting a disallowed goal before burying it after a splitting Holman pass.
Marlborough kept the pressure on, with Anil Sud finding the backboard from a smooth short corner. The game was far from one sided however, with Bridgend missing several chances, and Marlborough went into halftime knowing they’d have to step it up to kill the game.
A change in tactics from Craig did just that, and outstanding defence from Chris Jones and John Bromley neutralised their best player, and effectively their attack.
Marlborough consolidated their lead via a great bit of team attaching play leading to mark kinder finishing it for a 2 goal buffer. Marlborough kept the pressure up, winning several short corners, one of which scored but was disallowed harshly, which Ramage cooly accepted and thanked the umpire.
Marlborough put the final nail in the coffin when Matt Osbourne picked the ball at head height in front of goal and tipping it over the oncoming keeper.
Marlborough look to take the confidence from this decisive win to an aggressive Devizes team next week and push for the promotion spots.
