Investec Cup 2nd (and last) Round

Having convincingly beaten Cirencester in the first round and after a 3-2 loss to CoB in our first league meet, a close game was expected. Fielding a strong but unfamiliar squad, it took Marlborough a while to settle, going 3-0 down in the first 15. An amazing break by Rachel Cox turning into a one two with Alex Crosby-Jones, resulted in Marlborough's first goal, slickly finished by Alex. This was followed by an excellent strike from the short corner routine putting Marlborough back in the game at 3-2. There followed a period of tussling for the upper hand but a tiring Marlborough let two more through in quick succession before the end of the half.

The second half saw Marlborough find their groove and play much better as a team, holding CoB out of goal until the final 10. Marlborough had a couple of chances and two short corners but were unable to convert. The game ended 6-2 to Marlborough, the 1-0 score in the 2nd half feeling more like a fairer score for the game as a whole.
