Tough from the top

Last Saturday saw Marlborough take on a tough opponent in the form of Swindon 1s, currently holding the top spot in the league. Having previously played Swindon in a pre-season friendly and loosing 3-0, we knew it would be a hard match from the start. As predicted, Swindon started very strong however an excellent defensive structure and a solid press showed Marlborough at its best and held Swindon at bay for a time. Unfortunately their swift set plays and relentless and consistent play left us 3-0 down at half time.

Although, we had some encouraging breaks in the courtesy of Anna Scott and Martha Franks we were unable to finish. There were some expert saves from Vicky Moxham, however Swindon pushed hard through our defence again and again to score four more goals. Although a tough loss, there was some encouraging play by Marlborough throughout the game, and we maintained our efforts to the final whistle.
