A win to end the first half

After the last few weeks of hard fought matches Marlborough came out strongly in this must win bottom of the table clash.
With attacking play from the outset and some good movement from the front it wasn't long before a short corner was won. Lordy, the injector, scored from this well rehearsed set piece. Bretforton fought back hard, Marlborough defense worked well together to keep the ball out and Vicky Moxham denied them an equaliser at full stretch, but Marlborough continued to launch attacks and although unable to convert ended the half in there lead 1-0.

After half time Marlborough once again went on the attack and after winning another short corner, Rachel Cox scored a lovely p-spot set piece. Continuing to pay some lovely open, passing hockey the 3rd goal was scored by Martha running into the D from the right wing and shooting through the goalie, with an excellently placed ball. It was a well deserved win to close off the first half of the season, where Marlborough finish in 8th place, 3 points clear of 9th position and on equal points with 7th position, who have the edge on goal difference. This is a fantastic result for a newly formed team.
