Marlborough 0 - Chippenham 4

After a long break over Christmas the team were keen to play the first league game of 2015. Despite the cold conditions we were able to play away at Chippenham sports club, although the pitch was slippery in places, with a number of players taking a tumble. The game began in an excited manner with both teams eager to score the first. Marlborough made some good attacks which failed to find a player in the D and Chippenham were looking very strong through the middle. Chippenham continued to apply pressure on the Marlborough defence and Vicky Moxham was kept busy with several sharp saves, but one did find the back of the net early in the half. Despite further strong attacks from Marlborough Chippenham were consistently strong through the centre enabling them to score a second goal in the first half. A fantastic strike from Alex Crosby-Jones at the top of the D caused the hockey ball to break into two with half the ball successfully crossing the goal-line, the umpire awarded a bully off. The half ended at 2-0 to Chippenham.

Marlborough came back stronger and more determined in the second half, fighting for every ball, but were unable to score. Chippenham continued to convert chances and scored two more goals, the last one in the dying seconds. Though the fight was fierce out in the field the score was a rather disappointing 4-0 to Chippenham.
