Hereford 5 - Marlborough 2

Feeling positive and upbeat about the potential for points in this match, having only narrowly lost out on a draw last time, we went into the game with vigour. Unfortunately the game didn't get off to the best of starts with early goals from Hereford, made quick on the break, along with a deadly strike from a short corner. However we didn't let our heads go down and continued to push for chances, with a number of good crosses in, but failed to covert them into goals. Half time saw us down 3-0, but with much of the play in our own 25.

We rallied and began the second half much the better team. Some lovely plays through the middle from Rachel, Lordy and Phoebe brought chances which eventually paid off with Kat being in the right place at the right time to covert a cross. 3-1, game on. We continued to put Hereford under pressure and played some of our best hockey this season which soon produced another goal from a great cross from Rachel converted by Vikki.

Unfortunately despite our efforts it wasn't to be our day as dangerous turnovers from Hereford quickly turned the score to 4-2 and in the dying minutes a final goal to make it 5-2. We have a lot of positives to take from the game but sadly no points.

The Marlborough News Online Man of the Match was Helen Way for great attack and defence work in the middle.
