After a cold and wet drive to Salisbury, we arrived to find out that the rain decided it wasn’t going to stop! Team captain Emily Carter-Davies opened her bag to discover her skort was not where she expected it but instead back at home. We started off with a good energetic warm up so we were ready to play well and start hard!

At 11:30 the game started and with the defence being heavily attacked we held strong but Salisbury managed to score two early deflective goals. Beth Palfrey, Emily Carter-Davies, Amy Davidson and Annabel Ashley tried to work the ball around the back of the pitch to escape the pressure from the Salisbury attackers. Issy Davies at the back of the pitch had lots of amazing saves and from the full backs were lots of strong balls from the sixteen yard hit outs, with also some very well executed ariels. In the centre of the pitch we had Anna Scott who kept the middle of the park together as she distributed the ball, but towards the end of the first half, Salisbury had a fast breakaway ball which they scored a goal from making the score 3-0 down.

At halftime, we decided to set some goals for the second half: to make sure they score less in this half and to take balls more quickly to create more goal scoring opportunities. The inners Jess Davis, Alice Thompson and Kitty Cleaver worked very hard to get the ball up the pitch and use the space, they managed to get a short corner that was taken by Kitty Cleaver who hit the ball directly at goal but was well saved by the keeper. The three forwards Tess Christmas, Milly Dawson and Catherine Manley worked very hard to score but were stopped by a very good goalkeeper. Jess Davies had lots of good break away runs down the pitch and even presented a lovely back-hand shot. Salisbury scored a two further goals making the score 5-0 , which may have been a disappointing result but we all gave Salisbury a tough game, never gave up, we had fun and we achieved both of our halftime goals.

Our player of the match was Issy Davies for her countless saves on goal.
