9-0

A great win today against Winscombe. The team got off to a good early start with two goals from Freya Renwick and Louisa Gostling in the first 3 minutes. Freya soon followed up with her second goal of the match. Winscombe realised they needed to step up their game and put in a solid performance in defence, frustrating our continued attempts to break through. A few breaks away from the Winscombe half down the left side of the pitch were easily stopped by Victoria Williams and Emily McMath, and after a number of attempts Verity Langfield finally connected with the back of the net with a powerful straight strike. The team was 4-0 up at half time, but feeling there was much more to give.

The second half saw a significant step up in the pace and cohesion of the team. With Verity dropping back to midfield, Tatjana Jimenez, Freya and Helena Clarke were looking strong up front and kept the pressure firmly on Winscombe. Several more goals quickly followed from Freya and Taty, and there were at least three goals disallowed due to being struck from just outside the D, frustrating both inners - Ellie Davis and Jen Moffat. Helena and Taty got into some great positions and were unlucky not to score any more goals, and both Gabbie Painting and Karen Davis took the opportunity to break high and take their chance. Goal of the match had to go to Freya who managed to flick the ball into the top left corner well out of the reach of the goalie.

Overall a great effort by the team.
