Marlborough 2 went into the game against West Wilts unbeaten and confident of a win, but West Wilts quickly proved us wrong. Time and again the opposition broke down the middle with momentum, expertly passing the ball between players and leaving Marlborough 2 on the back foot. Heads quickly dropped and we were unable to find the enthusiasm to take the fight back to the opposition, finding ourselves 5-0 down at half time.
The second half was a huge improvement. The team played much better together, and our determination was eventually rewarded when Freya Renwick broke through the middle past several players, passing the ball to Millie Morgan at the last moment to score cleanly past the goalkeeper. Despite the efforts, West Wilts were by far the best team on the day, with the final scoreline sitting at 7-1.
