This match was a well-played match by the whole of the 2nds team. Players worked to their maximum ability and the effort levels were fantastic for the first game of the season. We started the match with a positive mind set and made sure that we all enjoyed the match even if it wasn’t to go the best way we had hoped for.

The first half showed our determination to score a goal and everyone worked exceptionally well together, even it being the first match of the season. The line of defenders all helped to keep the ball away from our D; this was Emily, Becky, Alex and Gabbie working well as a unit and communication helped them to achieve that.

Our mid way line was reliable for more of the movement of the ball up into the forwards who were ready to score. Jen and Ellie as the inners were running their socks off to help keep the ball play going forward and moving in our possession. Karen and Helena were also along the mid field line and made some great passes and tackles to help us to keep attacking forward.

The forward line consisted of Taty, Millie, Nyah, Freya and Verity. The forward line used their young legs as an advantage when attacking forwards towards the goal. Taty made some great runs up the line for a midfield to pass to her and so did Millie, leading to a goal from Freya off a straight strike from the top of the D right into the bottom left hand corner where the goalie couldn’t reach. Nyah was also always open along the line to receive any balls and was ready to pass them off and up to the D.

The score did not highlight how well we all played during the match, as everyone worked hard and well as a team in the first game of the season. It does certainly show us to be positive for the rest of the season’s games, as we have a very strong team. The over all score was 1-2 to Salisbury and it was a shame they managed to get two goals in the second half as we had given them a solid game in the run up to them scoring the goals. The one goal that Marlborough scored showed how well the seconds could work in a team.
