An inspiring win for Marlborough 2

After a couple of luckless matches in the past few weeks, we came out more determined than ever, armed with the team tactics and words of inspiration from Louisa. 5 minutes into the game, the first goal took us by surprise with a shot straight into the goal from Verity, but set up nicely by Ellie and Nyah. This generated an even greater resolve from Chippenham but this was no match from our strong defence with outstanding play from not only Becky, Emily and Sophie but the whole team who worked as a unit to get the ball back into our possession. As the match progressed, we continued to be strong as a team, working well together defensively and aggressively in order for a second goal 15 minutes later from Verity. 3 minutes later, we really showed that Marlborough was working well together with another goal, bringing the total up to 3-0 in the first half.

After half-time, Chippenham clearly came out strong, and a goal was conceded in the first 5 minutes of the second half despite a good effort from all players to impede it. Throughout the second half, Marlborough kept determined and managed to keep the ball in our possession for the majority of the rest of the game. Although no Marlborough goals were scored in the second half, there were some moments of superlative playing from the whole team. Verity had a brilliant game, scoring us many goals, and there were many nominations throughout the team, but it was Ellie who won Player Of The Match with 5 votes for her grit and skill in playing the ball, so congratulations to her!
