An impressive win earns the 2s a valuable 3 points

Despite the cold weather Marlborough started off positive, playing Frome who were higher in the league. Marlborough took the first push back, immediately taking the ball up the pitch due to some brilliant play from Becky and Jen leading to an early goal from Gabbie, which made the score 1-0. Strong defence from Sarah, Emily and Sophie meant the ball was kept up the pitch and eventually led to another goal from Verity and keeping our spirits high. Frome made some good runs leading to shots on goal including one that hit the crossbar, which Louisa cleared out the goal fantastically despite playing in goal out of position. However towards the end of the first half, which was generally strong, energy levels dropped allowing Frome to slip the ball past us, leaving the score as 2-2 at half time.

In the second half, Marlborough continued strong. Hit outs taken by Sarah were successful and allowed Nyah to do an amazing run through the middle. Alex also came on making some great runs. Frome played well getting the ball into the goal circle but not being successful due to brilliant defence from Emily. Heather and Verity made a lot of runs up the pitch and passing between them resulted in another goal by Heather. In the last few minutes the ball was nicely transferred down the pitch because of all players working hard, leading to a short corner just as the whistle blew. An injection by Gabbie lead to a shot on goal, however the Frome defence managed to clear the ball out, finishing on 3-2 to Marlborough and a valuable 3 points.

There were lots of nominations all round for player of the match, so it was decided that it would be the whole team.
