On Saturday, we arrived in Swindon with hopes of a win away from home in the rain. Being one point behind them in the league was real motivation to try to climb up the table.
After a few initial attacks from Swindon, a ball from Becky B reached Freya who beat the defenders and goal keeper to score a sensational goal. This lead was doubled by Alice who deflected a strike from Verity into the goal. Meg, Nyah and Jamie also created many chances but Swindon were defending well to keep themselves in the game. Jen and Becky F worked well in midfield with Ellie, who passed to Freya leading to another Marlborough goal. Shortly before half time, Alice fired another goal into the net.
During the second half Swindon created many chances, and despite tireless defending from Sarah and Helena 3 goals slotted past Edie. The game was very close, but Freya scored yet another goal off her back foot after a reverse stick cross from Meg. The game ended 5-3 and Helena recieved player of the match for her hard work at right half. A great result for the whole team after a hard fought second half!
