For some, this was their first match back after Christmas (or even longer!), and a sleepy start for all; it took the first ten minutes of game play for us to get our heads into the match, with a considerably different line up from last week. There were chances at both ends, but Frome scored first, sneaking the ball in on their right. Marlborough fought back with a couple of good attempts on the left from Meg Aujla on the back stick. Sadly, Frome scored a second goal, but the score line was not reflecting the end to end game at play. Marlborough won a short corner and Verity Langfield found the back of the net over the goalies left shoulder, but the goal was disallowed as the ball didn’t hit the backboard. Finally Marlborough scored. Feeding the ball up the middle of the field to Verity who crossed the ball to Jaime Parsons to finish it over the line. A good team effort and a fighting come back to give the squad some inspiration before half time!

The second half saw Marlborough team efforts come together, with much more support from the forwards and midfield to the defence, reflecting the half time team chat. A second goal for Marlborough was scored by Verity not long into the second half.
Shortly after a blow from a ball to the knee sent Fiona Baillie off with a hobble and some ice, but she was back on and fighting in no time. A daft tackle from Jen Moffat within the 5m rule of the oppositions attack was awarded with a green card, a two minute ‘rest’, and from the team: ‘Idiot of the day’!

Both teams continued to attack and defend well, but no more goals were scored either way. A great game was had by all and this was reflected in the many POTM’s awarded from team mate to team mate. Despite this their was an overwhelming 6 votes for our Player of the Match, Katie King, whose strength in defence never waivers (this week or any other) and who always seems to find our forwards with her epic hits up the left wing!
