A lovely morning for a home game this Saturday, with 13 players for the Marlborough team. The game started positively with the captain Lousia Gostling winning the coin toss and gaining first push back. The first half consistently saw our midfielders - Fiona and Vix - playing well and always putting the pressure on Salisbury, so that the ball was mostly in their half with multiple attempted shots on goal. However, half time ended evenly at 0-0 with a pep talk and a break from the heat. Soon after half time Verity Langfield scores by slipping round the keeper and flicking it into the goal. Having only one well outed defensive short against us, Sarah Kendall, Flora (a new player) and Katie King did very well defending in our D. They were well supported by Edie Bound who saved some cracking shots.Towards the end of match after multiple won short corners, Zara Newman pushes the ball onto the backboard making the score 2-0 despite their good goalie. Throughout the match, each and every player worked extremely hard to push forward making player of the match a tough decision. Darcy Brown was awarded POTM.
Overall, every player should be proud of themselves this morning and the well earned win. Thank you to our supporters on the side cheering us on, it is always much appreciated. Even in surprising sunny weather the effort rate was very high and should definitely be continued! Well done ladies!!
