Next up for Marlborough was a potential tricky game against the students from Bristol UWE. With them sitting near the bottom, on paper it should have been easy, but Marlborough were made to work for the victory. With keeper Brian Marnane stuck on the motorway it was touch and go as to whether he would make the game, let alone start it! Panic not, he turned up with 5 minutes to spare and was ready to go! After last week's slow start, Marlborough had to do better and did through Rhys Davies as his deflected cross come shot ended up in the back of the net. 1-0. Marlborough looked to stamp their authority on the game and tried to get another. Although they created chances, they couldn't score until Ed Watson slotted the ball passed the advancing keeper after good work from will Radnedge. 2-0. That's the way it ended going into half time without Marlborough really being threatened. The half time team talk was all about killing the game off with the next goal and Marlborough got it through John Bromley after Will Hughes crossed the ball. Marlborough then stretched their lead with a well deserved goal for Will Hughes whose persistence in the 'D' paid off as he slotted the ball home! 4-0 and out of sight. To their credit, UWE tried to push forward to get a goal, but Marlborough's defence held strong. Further goals from Matt Way and another for Will Hughes meant the score finished 6-0. A terrific performance from Marlborough. Marlborough News Online man of the match was Will Hughes.
