With marlborough playing buccs b’s the week before and winning comfortably, playing the c’s who were bottom and with no points so far, this was a good mental test of respecting every team you play.
Marlborough started strongly, counter attacking well and looking after the ball. They were rewarded with a short corner which was delfected in nicely by charlie hawley. Marlborough continued to press high and turning the ball over on numerous occassions, found themselves further ahead going into half time with goals from rich fynn x2 (tap in at the far post and reserve stick strike) will hughes (tap in) and another from rich fynn who nailed a drag flick into the top corner to complete his hatrick, awesome finish!! 5-0 at half time and the message from the skipper was more of the same, dont drop off the intensity and look to score more!!
Marlborough listen, but didnt apply. To their credit, buccs played deeper and tried to hit marlborough on the break, marlborough became frustrated and lost a little bit of shape and couldnt string 2 passes together. They did however manage to score a couple more goals, firstly, hawley smashed in a reverse stick strike into the corner and then alex renwick followed up his power strike with a flick over the keeper in the net.
All in all, a good performance. A little scrappy at times, but the first half display of good, quick, attacking play did the damage!
Marlborough news online Man of the match was rich fynn for his superb hattrick and dod was.... charlie.... no.... sorry, went into autotext there! John bromely won this for his first green card in about 10 years.... why he hasnt had one before is a mystery to us all....
Special mention this week goes to Aaron, who didnt touch the ball once, ALL GAME! And charlie for once again maintaining his average of at least 1 card per game this season!!
