Match report by Harry Milton.
It was a windy trip down the M4 over the Severn to the Valleys for Marlborough’s third encounter with the Welsh this season.
Marlborough got off to a good start with Hamish Fyfe scoring early on but the opposition got back on even terms soon after despite Marlborough controlling the game for much of this period.
Anil Sud had a penalty flick saved by the Bridgend keeper but Marlborough persevered and swiftly converted a short corner opportunity with Anil Sud slotting it in the bottom corner to regain the lead. They continued to build on this when Harry Milton played a lovely pass across goal from just inside the D for Hamish Fyfe, again, to tap in at the back post. 3-1.
A harsh yellow card for Rich Holman gave a window for Bridgend to come back in the game. They took the opportunity with two goals in ten minutes to bring the scores level at half time despite Marlborough having the majority of the possession and chances.
The second half proved to be a more even affair. Marlborough regained the lead with a strike from Hamish Fyfe (again) taking a deflection and just avoiding the keepers outstretched arm. Unfortunately for marlborough they were unable to hold the lead until the end of the game with Bridgend capitalising on a few more questionable cards for Marlborough (Jonesy and Hamish). A tough draw left everyone a little frustrated but ultimately pleased with the teams first point of the season.
