Corsham A vs Marl B

Match report: A titanic top of the league battle, both teams only had one result on their mind. Frankly one team looked more prepared, better drilled, less post-Christmas fatigue, and the other....was marlborough! A late afternoon away game with 13 of us, our to battle what is possibly the best team in the league.
The first five minutes set the tone - relentless attacks by Corsham, spreading the Ball wide and fast, as we set up our defensive fortifications, led by the immovable Tom Collins, again. Gosling and Harley set the structure of central defence as wave after wave of attacks came. The awesome foursome at the back earned their chips and spam sandwiches...the next 70 minutes would be long and arduous. Finally we got some momentum, the first half began to open up with excellent solidity from Mr Gill structuring the forward play. Chris was the target man with the other forwards rolling on and off. Finally an inspirational piece of play from Alfie coming in from the left and a perfectly placed pace to Chris and we were 1 up.
The second half was attritional, key to stay ahead but always against the run of play. Possession was Corshams, and to be honest, we stole a victory, but all done to intense levels of desire, fight, grit from all 13 of us, the most rewarding victory of the season against the unluckiest of completion. Man of the match was Alfie, the release valve from so much defence.
