The season opener was a local derby against the Marlborough 2's. The 3's started out strongly, challenging the 2's from the very start. A solid midfield forced the ball up high and resulted in Chris Newton winning an early short corner which, despite our many seconds of corner practice, we couldn't quite convert into a goal. Luc Renwick worked hard in goal, keeping a clean sheet in the first half which ended 0-0. Early in the second half, the 2's opened the scoring with a short corner drag flick. A series of goals followed with Luc Renwick being unlucky not to keep a few of them out. Final score was 5-0 to the 2's. A strong opening performance from the 3's with solid performances all round which bodes well for the season. Aim is to stay up in this league.
