With a bare 11 on the team sheet, Marlborough started the game with just 10 outfield players as the keeper was delayed getting to the game. The team managed to keep a clean sheet for 10 minutes until Ben Marren arrived and took up his position between the posts. Marlborough had most of the play in the first half but were unable to get any goals from it. In the second half it was more of the same with half chances at both ends, Harry Strover coming within a hair's breadth of touching in a big hit into the D from Phil Gill. With five minutes to go, the Marlborough Captain made an horrendous tackle which earned him a well deserved green card and while he was off the pitch, North Wilts managed to squeeze in a goal. Despite the best efforts of the team, an equaliser could not be found, leading to a disappointing loss on a day of endless rain.
