12 players turned out, on the even worse than usual Wootton Bassett Pitch, thanks to the previous weeks flooding. Marlborough started off strongly, having most of the possession and winning numerous short corners but were unable to capitalise on this until about 20 minutes in when Tim Horton smashed a ball into the goal with a dead straight hit from a short corner, beating the Wootton Bassett keeper to put Marlborough 1-0 up. The home team then managed to equalise before the Marlborough Captain, playing way out of his usual defence position as left forward, deftly sidestepped a challenge in the D, then coolly slipped the ball into the right side of the goal with a skilful reverse hit. After half time, Wootton Bassett equalised again before Barney Pickford put Marlborough ahead again with a well deserved goal that saw the match end 3-2 to Marlborough.
