A nice win

13 hardy souls turned out for this last game before Christmas, luckily the torrential rain stopped before we played meaning that we had probably the best playing conditions of the last 2 months. Marlborough started strongly with most of the possession in the first half, managing to merge the cool headed experience of the senior players with the energy and speed of the juniors. The goal came about halfway through the first half when the Captain picked up the ball outside the opposition D and fired it in with pin point accuracy to find Harry Strover who casually put it into the goal. After half time, Chippenham started strongly and won a succession of penalty corners with Tom Collins working hard in goal to keep them out. The Captain also made an amazing goal line save as post man. After this brief spell, Marlborough worked hard to regain their earlier dominance but were just not quite able to get any more goals. After the game the team showed their gratitude to the Captain for spending an hour and a half setting up the teas before the game. Thanks to those stalwarts who helped with the clear up at the clubhouse. Merry Christmas!
