On Saturday 2nd march the Marlborough ladies 1st team headed off for an early start in Blandford. After wandering around the school grounds we eventually found the changing rooms where Emily Carter-Davies gave a team talk to try our best and enjoy the game.

We started the game with B&SN dominating forcing Marlborough to play very defensively. Lots of strong tackles and distribution play came from Beth Palfrey, Amy Davidson, Emily Carter-Davies and Annabel Ashley at the back of the pitch. Unfortunately B&SN scored after some scrabbled play in front of the goal. Marlborough had a few break away runs and connections up to the other end of the pitch, which Milly Dawson and Grace Berry tried really hard to turn into a goal, but they we sadly unsuccessful. B&SN then scored again after a player ran along the baseline and pushed the ball at a hard angle into the corner. With good distribution play from Jess Davis, Victoria Williams Fiona Baillie and Holly Clemence in the middle of the pitch Marlborough got the ball into the oppositions D. To Marlborough’s advantage the B&SN goal keeper kicked the ball into one of their own players feet giving Marlborough a short corner! The ball was injected to the top of the D for a straight strike but unluckily it just went to the right hand side of the goal. The opposition then managed to score another goal from an unlucky touch from a Marlborough playing taking the score to 3-0.

In the second half Marlborough were more in control of there game. B&SN scored one lucky goal in the first 10 minutes with a deflection into the bottom right hand corner. There were lots of runs up the pitch from Holly Clemence and Annabel Ashley, Fiona Baillie made some good hard hits across the D and Issy Davies made lots of nice saves. Marlborough managed to get another short corner which was injected to the left side of the D for a ‘Beth ball’, however Marlborough was unable to score. At the end of the second half Marlborough were all proud because we had only conceived one goal and we were more in control of the game.

Everyone played amazing and especially considering we had several players from other teams and one player with a injury, so well done everyone! The player who got man of the match this week was Beth Palfrey for excellent play throughout the whole game!
