It's always awkward being put against a team from your own club. We wanted the game to feel friendly, but it was clear what the second team needed to achieve - a win with as many goals as possible, in order to maximise our chances of success. We got off to a strong start with goals from Freya and Victoria in the first few minutes, which helped get the adrenalin going. The threes put up a good resistance, but another four goals followed putting the second team 6-0 up at half time.
We went into the second half intending to double the score line, but some reorganisation from the threes made it much more difficult to break through and we only managed one more goal. Still, this was enough to put Marlborough 2 up to second in the league.
Thank you to the third team for putting up a good opposition and playing with spirit and determination.
