Marlborough came out strong right from the get go holding possession well. There was some great passing from the whole team using the width of the pitch and driving it forward really making Swindon work in their defence. With great teamwork it wasn’t long till Gabbie Painting scored our first goal. Straight away Swindon was on the attack but we fought back with some strong defence and good clearances from Emily, Julie and Annabel and with determination we managed to gain possession keeping the game fast moving, passing the ball well with some great runs forward from Ellie, Katie, Verity and Freya.
Swindon won a short corner, which resulted in them equalising. Again with fast pace and great passing Freya made a break forward and with a brilliant run and a strong hit into goal we were 2-1 up, 3 minutes before half time. This was short lived as Swindon won the ball off a 16 yard hit out quickly equalised, putting the score to 2-2 at half time.
Not put off by this, Marlborough came out strong in the second half controlling the game, keeping possession and working well as a team. With some great attacking play and near misses at goal, we were playing strong and with some great encouragement coming from the side line supporters we were playing with a real determination. It wasn’t long until we were rewarded with another 2 goals both coming from Freya Renwick. Overall with great play from everyone it was hard to decide a single player of the match. A great team effort, well done.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all the supporters and their encouragement throughout the match.
