Despite the cold, wet and blustery conditions Marlborough arrived at Swindon buzzing for a needed win. The standard was set, players were working hard off the ball passing and moving into space. Helena Clarke, player of the match, was attacking hard through midfield and it wasn’t long before Verity Langfield deflected a clean ball in to the back of the goal. A second goal shortly followed. Jaime Parsons sent a quick ball from the back line and in the defenders confusion the goal was open for Ciara Blackstock to score. 2-0.
On the second half the defence worked hard to keep a desperate Swindon out of the D. Sarah Kendall, as usual, had a fantastic defensive game clearing ball wide and Izzy Davies the goalkeeper calmly made numerous incredible saves during the game. However, Swindon eventually responded with a low strike on goal which slipped in the corner. Verity Langfield quickly replied with one of her composed strikes one on one with keeper. The final score 3-1 to Marlborough.
