Marlborough 2’s travelled away to play Corsham First team in a very wet match.
The match started positively with good passing, good space and brilliant defending from the back line of Evie Williams, Sarah Kendal and Goalie Emma Davies. Midfield worked hard to move the ball up the pitch but Corsham's strong midfield unfortunately shut down the advances and scored fairly early on. Marlborough with heads up, fought back, with some good passing from midfield Louisa taking the ball wide right to Ellie. The ball went up into the oppositions 23, however top of the league team Corsham quickly turned the ball around and with some strong passing another goal was scored despite Marlborough’s speedy return down the pitch to defend. A short was given to Corsham due to a Marlborough foot in our D. Daisy Beckwith, running 1, broke to early (shock!) and although having done the ‘run of shame’ to the half way line and leaving only 3 defenders, no goal was scored because Sarah Kendal saved 2 almighty strikes!
The rain lashed down, the pitch became slippery and many knees were astro burned. Blood and sweat truly went into our game on Saturday!! Good defending, good passing and other positives were taken from our match but sadly we finished the game on a score of 14-0 to Corsham. Player of the match was awarded to Daisy. Hopefully our next match, Saturday 9th Nov is at Home vs Corsham 2’s.
