On the 23rd of November the Marlborough two’s marched onto the pitch hoping for a win. We were playing Devizes, a team only one spot above us in the league. After a strong team talk from our captain Louisa Gostling we were ready to play. Devizes had first push back and made some good strong passes around the back, until our players went in for tackles. Soon we ha the ball and Jodie was carrying down the wing. However Devises got the ball off us and very quickly got down into our D. After a short time Devizes won the first goal was scored by a small flick. After the goal they had many opportunity’s on the goal however, the Goalkeeper Emma Davies made some saves, coming out and sliding, until the first half of the match ended.
After a quick team talk from Sarah Kendall and Louisa, and some well earned jelly babies we went back on the pitch ready to begin. Again it started with some strong play from Devizes but, very shortly afterwards Marlborough won the ball back and we had a very strong second half with the odd breakthrough from Devizes and an unfortunate goal. Unfortunately we weren’t able to score a goal but we made many close attempts.
Some names worth mentioning were Katie and Sarah who defended the goal and D extremely well considering Devizes kept the pressure. The two Debs making lots of runs into their D. And of course Evie who deservingly won POTM this week. All in all a good but a tough match!
